Somali Court Sentences Former District Police Chief to Death for Killing a Local Businessman

Somalia’s Supreme Military Court has sentenced the former Hiliwa district police station chief to death for killing a local businessman.

Ex-police chief of the Hiliwa district police Abdifatah Qoslaye was sentenced to death by the military court on Thursday.

The court found Qoslaye and other police officers guilty of killing businessman Abukar Ahmed Kaabah outside Mogadishu on February 22, 2024.

Liban Mohamed was jailed for life for the same crime.

Three other accused persons were handed seven-year sentences for their role in Kaabah’s murder.

The three are Hassan Dhin-Dhin, Yasin Abdi, and Mohamed Adawe.
