Somali Delegation Attends 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva

A delegation from Somalia has traveled to Geneva in Switzerland for the 75th World Health Assembly.

The delegation attended the event that runs from May 22-28.

On Sunday, Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur led the delegation in attending the first day of this year’s assembly.

The theme for this year’s assembly is “Health for Peace, Peace for Health.”

This year’s assembly is the first in-person meeting of health professionals from all parts of the world since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants will discuss the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) in providing leadership and coordination when responding to COVID-19 and other similar pandemics.

Speakers at the assembly include the President of the World Health Assembly.

Heads of States present at the meeting are also likely to speak.

Special guests and the WHO Director-General would address the gathering too.
