Somali Elder Killed in His Peacemaking Role Buried in Adale

A renowned Somali elder killed during his peacemaking duties has been laid to rest.

Mukhtar Ahmed, a renowned elder, was shot and killed while trying to reconcile warring parties in Adale.

He was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony carried out in Adale on Thursday, November 24.

Mourners at his burial faulted the deteriorating security situation in Adale and the surrounding regions. They urged the government to apprehend those responsible for his death.
