Somali Elections Dominate Puntland Cabinet Meeting Discussions

Somalia elections and various issues surrounding it dominated this week’s Puntland cabinet meeting deliberations.

President Said Abdullahi Deni chaired the meeting that was held in Garowe on Thursday, February 11.

Sources assert that he took the opportunity to brief his cabinet ministers on the outcome of the National Consultative Conference that ran from February 1-5.

Apart from elections, the cabinet also discussed various other issues.

These included security in the semiautonomous state and the situation in various regions and districts of Puntland.

Furthermore, the cabinet, including Vice President Ahmed Osman Karaash, discussed development projects and education.

The adoption of the white paper on government sites, which has been recently drafted, also featured heavily in this week’s deliberations.

Nevertheless, their focus was primarily on elections, which is the most pressing issue in Somalia now, as the nation has failed to hold the long overdue parliamentary or presidential elections.
