Somalia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Abdullahi Warfa, delivered a comprehensive briefing to the African Union on the country’s current political and security landscape.
In his remarks, Ambassador Warfa emphasized the importance of aligning the new African Union-led mission, AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), with Somalia’s national sovereignty and priorities.
He underscored the Somali government’s commitment to leading its own stabilization and security efforts while calling for increased financial and logistical support from the AU and its partners.
Warfa reiterated that meaningful progress in Somalia depends on full international backing that respects the Somali people’s aspirations and ownership of the peacebuilding process.
