Somali Government Denies Banning Fly Dubai and Air Arabia

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has denied reports that it banned Fly Dubai and Air Arabia from flying the country’s airspace.

Earlier, there had been reports that the country’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation had suspended the licenses of the two airlines.

On August 21, the transport ministry issued a brief statement clarifying the issue.

In the statement, the ministry said that it had never banned the two firms from operating within its airspace.

It called such reports “false information.”

According to the ministry, the two firms continue flying to Mogadishu and Hargeisa – the capital city of Somaliland – every week.

Last year, Somaliland suspended both airlines from its skies. At the time, Hargeisa said that they were following directives from Mogadishu.
