Somali Government Rejects Opposition’s Preconditions for Talks

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali government has firmly rejected any preconditions for dialogue proposed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, declaring that “there is no room for demands” ahead of national reconciliation talks.

Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hassan Moallin urged the opposition to bring their concerns to the negotiating table rather than issuing ultimatums.

“If they have genuine grievances, they should present them through dialogue. Preconditions only obstruct the path to national unity,” he said.

The statement comes amid growing political tensions as various opposition groups seek greater influence over the direction of ongoing constitutional reforms and power-sharing arrangements.

While the government maintains it is open to talks, officials insist that all stakeholders must come to the table without prior demands to ensure an inclusive and productive process.
