The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) is under increasing pressure to resolve the recent murder of Radio Muqdisho director.
Abdiaziz Guled Afrika, the Director of Radio Muqdisho, lost his life when terrorists attack the premises where his media station is based.
Now, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) have added its voice to others calling for speedy investigations into Afrika’s killing.
Afrika has been a leading critic of the Al-Shabaab militia group.
Al-Shabaab has already claimed responsibility for the attack that caused Afrika’s death.
However, CPJ now wants the government to investigate the matter.
On November 24, CPJ issued a press statement calling for “thorough and transparent investigation” into the attack.
It said that the investigations would prove that the government is serious about halting the rampant killing of journalists in Somalia.
The East African nation has often been listed as one of the most dangerous countries for journalists.
Two other journalists – Sharmarke Mohamed Warsame and Abdukadir Abdullahi Nur – were injured in the attack that caused Afrika’s death.
