The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has welcomed defectors from Al-Shabaab.
A communique from the government states that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud offered an amnesty to Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The government urged them to take advantage of the amnesty and surrender to authorities.
As of April 26, over 100 Al-Shabaab militants from regions such as Galmudug, Southwest, Jubbaland, HirShabelle, and Mogadishu had surrendered to authorities.
According to the Ministry of Information, the defectors are currently being rehabilitated.
