ISLAMABAD — The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation for Somalia, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh), led a high-level delegation to Islamabad for a strategic meeting with the leadership of Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The talks focused on enhancing technological collaboration between the two countries, particularly concerning the development and management of Somalia’s national identity systems.
Reinforcing the Partnership
The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Mr. Abdiwali Timacadde. The primary objective of the meeting was to assess and reinforce the existing partnership in digital identity management.
During the discussions, the Somali delegation emphasized the significant role NADRA has played in supporting the establishment and implementation of NIRA. Officials recognized this collaboration as a key accomplishment in Somalia’s quest to build a modern and comprehensive civil registry.
Focus on Capacity Building
Both sides engaged in comprehensive talks regarding the continuation of technical cooperation and institutional capacity development. The dialogue centered on creating frameworks for expertise exchange to maintain the integrity and security of the National ID infrastructure.
“A strong identification framework is crucial for enhancing the quality and accessibility of public services,” officials stressed, highlighting the need to ensure all citizens are properly documented.
This high-level engagement in Pakistan demonstrates the Federal Government’s dedication to utilizing international partnerships to modernize its administrative functions and advance its digital transformation goals.
