Somali Journalist Detained by Police in Gedo for over 4 Days

A Somali journalist has been in police custody for over four days now.

Mohamud BoodBood, who works for Radio Ergo as a reporter, was arrested earlier this week in unclear circumstances.

Four days later he is still in detention.

Radio Ergo, a humanitarian radio station funded by the United Nations, confirmed BoodBood’s continued detention.

It added that he is in the custody of police in Luuq, Gedo.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that local authorities plan to hand BoodBood over to Ethiopian forces in the region.
