Somali legislators have donated 10 percent of their February salaries to the victims of the recent deadly earthquake in Turkey.
Members of the House of the People (Lower House) voted to donate this month’s salaries to thousands of people killed and injured in the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.
The earthquake has left over 35,000 people in Turkey and Syria dead.
Hundreds of thousands more no longer have houses of their own to go back to.
This week, Somalia formed an 11-member ministerial committee to coordinate the country’s support and response toward the brotherly people of Turkey.
