A Somali man who killed his wife and some of her family members before fleeing the scene of crime has been arrested.
In an incident that shocked the entire country, Aweys Hussein Abdi first killed his embattled wife.
Later, he showed up at her funeral dressed as a woman, where he proceeded to shoot his in-laws using an AK-47 rifle.
Police are yet to recover the rifle used in the killings.
Aweys was arrested on Saturday by police officers in Mudug region after several days of intense manhunt.
Zakia Hussein, Mudug’s Deputy Police Commander, confirmed his arrest and said that he will remain in police custody throughout the weekend while detectives gather more evidence.
Furthermore, she explained that authorities are yet to establish Aweys’ reasons for going on the killing spree.
