The Somali military has killed at least 20 Al-Shabaab terrorists in Hiiraan.
A statement from the federal Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism shows that Somali National Army (SNA) troops killed the terrorists in two Hiiraan villages on Wednesday.
The deaths occurred when SNA and Al-Shabaab terrorists were caught up in a fight in the two villages of Yasoman and Berayabaal.
Members of the militant group had launched an attack against army positions in the area.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabaab has also released a statement through its affiliate media on the incident.
According to Al-Shabaab, its terrorists killed 117 SNA soldiers in the Hiiraan clashes.
The government side is yet to admit or provide any feedback on its soldiers who died or got injured in the clashes.
