TRIPOLI, Libya – Somalia’s Information Minister Daud Aweis Jama informed media representatives from the region on Thursday that Libya’s media rehabilitation provides a valuable roadmap for Somalia in enhancing governmental structures and restoring confidence among citizens.
Addressing attendees at the Tripoli Media Days ceremony with other Arab League information ministers, Aweis commended Libyan journalists and media organizations for their contribution to maintaining stable public conversations during a challenging period.
The minister expressed Somalia’s appreciation for Libya’s enhanced security environment, considering the nation’s advancement as proof that media sectors in post-conflict nations can be successfully rehabilitated with adequate resources.
“Somalia celebrates Libya’s achievements,” Aweis remarked, highlighting how the steadfastness of the Libyan press has been instrumental in the nation’s political restoration.
He indicated Somalia’s intention to enhance collaboration with Libya to improve media education, promote cultural interactions, and fortify sectoral institutional growth.
Aweis stated that the transformations currently defining Libya’s media environment, specifically initiatives against false information and enhanced journalistic standards, might enable Somalia to confront comparable difficulties domestically.
He referenced President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s February journey to Tripoli as a significant development that reactivated political and media collaboration between both nations.
This meeting, he continued, affirms Somalia’s participation in Arab League media programs and creates additional possibilities for technical support from Libya and other participating nations as Somalia endeavors to modernize its communication frameworks.
