The Somali Police Coast Guard, in collaboration with EU Operation ATALANTA, recently carried out a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) exercise.
This training focused on enhancing the skills necessary to professionally handle and board vessels suspected of engaging in illegal activities within Somali waters.
The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve maritime security and enforce laws in the region, targeting issues such as piracy, illegal fishing, and smuggling.
The partnership with EU Operation ATALANTA plays a critical role in strengthening the capabilities of the Somali Police Coast Guard in protecting the nation’s territorial waters.
