A police officer accused of joining Al-Shabaab and participating in their training camps has reportedly returned to Mogadishu, where he allegedly used his police uniform to carry out targeted shootings.
As per reports, the Somali Police Force (SPF) officer was presented before the military court in Mogadishu earlier this week to answer to charges filed against him.
The officer was allegedly tasked with executing high-profile assassinations, further raising concerns about Al-Shabaab’s infiltration within security forces.
His case is currently being handled by the Military Court, which has jurisdiction over terrorism-related offenses in Somalia.
