Somali President Appoints New National Security Adviser

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia has appointed a new National Security Adviser.

Reports from Villa Somalia indicate that Hussein Moalin becomes the new National Security Adviser to the Presidency with immediate effect.

A statement from Mohamud’s office announced the appointment on Tuesday, May 24.

While making the appointment, President Mohamud mentioned that Moalin would advance the presidency’s “profound commitment” to making Somalia safer for all.

President Mohamud cited the impressive experience and accomplishments that Moalin brings to his new office and role.

He mentioned the fact that the new National Security Adviser has drafted tons of security strategies.

Moalin’s appointment is among the first that Mohamud has made since taking over the reins of power officially from ex-President Mohamud Abdullahi Farmaajo yesterday.
