Somali President Chairs an Emergency Security Meeting

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia chaired an emergency security meeting on Tuesday.

The Somali President chaired the emergency meeting of all the heads of security agencies in the country at Villa Somalia.

He chaired the meeting a few days after Al-Shabaab launched the most daring terror attack in Mogadishu since President Mohamud won May’s presidential elections.

Al-Shabaab attacked Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu on Friday, August 19.

According to the Ministry of Health, 21 people died in the terror attack while close to 117 suffered different types of injuries.

In the security meeting, President Mohamud vowed to launch a full-scale military operation against Al-Shabaab all over the country.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre was at the meeting.

Members of the recently formed Council of Ministers attended the meeting too.
