On Sunday, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud relieved Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim Qoone of his duties as Presidential Advisor on Federal State Relations.
The President expressed gratitude for Qoone’s service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
This change comes amid President Mohamud’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Somalia’s governance structures and enhance cooperation between the federal government and regional states.
Since assuming office on May 23, 2022, President Mohamud has focused on national reconciliation, institutional reform, and socio-economic development.
In recent months, the President has engaged in diplomatic initiatives to bolster regional stability and economic integration.
Notably, he met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to restore and enhance bilateral relations, reaffirming commitments made under the Ankara Declaration.
Additionally, President Mohamud has participated in international forums, such as the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, to address global environmental challenges.
The dismissal of Qoone aligns with President Mohamud’s broader agenda to ensure effective collaboration between the federal government and Somalia’s federal member states, aiming to promote peace, stability, and development across the nation.
