Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak, the UAE Minister of State, was the most senior official to welcome the Somalia leader.
President Mohamud is in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Saeed, the President of the UAE.
He will be in the UAE for two days holding a series of top-level discussions with various leaders.
According to sources close to the Somali leader, he would then leave UAE and make a similar visit to Nairobi for discussions with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
