President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has vowed to Somalis that he would never negotiate the country’s territorial integrity with anyone.
Speaking during Friday prayers in Mogadishu, the President promised to do all in his powers to protect Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his speech, the President referred to the deal announced on Monday between Somaliland and Ethiopia in which the latter gets access to 20km of seaport in the former.
The agreement has come under sharp focus and criticism in Somalia and beyond.
“There is nothing swapping any part of our territory for,” said President Mohamud.
He also took the opportunity to castigate Somalis who gave bad advice in the past thus causing the country to lose part of its territory.
