Somali Presidential Candidates to Campaign in Parliament on May 11-12

The timetable for the upcoming presidential elections in Somalia has been released.

As per the timetable, all presidential candidates have to appear before parliamentarians on May 11-12 to sell their agenda.

The candidates would then wait for the D-Day on May 15.

Parliamentarians from both chambers of the federal parliament are responsible for electing the new President of Somalia.

They will elect the new President as the country celebrates the Somali National Youth Day.

Furthermore, the polls fall on the same day the country commemorates the 79th Anniversary of the establishment of the Somali Youth League.

Currently, about a dozen individuals have expressed interest in contesting the presidential elections.
