Somali Prime Minister Urges Judiciary to be Hard on Murderers

The Somali Prime Minister has urged the judiciary to be hard on people who murder their fellow citizens.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre issued this call when addressing a meeting of the country’s attorney generals from the federal and regional governments.

He encouraged them to improve the justice system in Somalia.

“Our attorney generals need to work closely with the prosecutors to imprison criminals who shoot and kill innocent civilians in the country,” the Prime Minister stated.

His sentiments follow the recent rise in cases of military officers killing civilians in Mogadishu streets and neighborhoods.

On Sunday, military officers shot three people in Mogadishu including a young student.
