Security forces in Somalia killed 17 terrorists during an operation undertaken in Middle Shabelle on Wednesday.
The operation was by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
International partners also supported NISA in the military operation that took place in Hawadley, a small town in Middle Shabelle.
The town is roughly 30kms to the northeast of Mogadishu.
The NISA-led operation took place on the night of October 26.
Those killed in the operation include senior leaders of the militant group that has terrorized residents of the East African nation for years.
