Somali Security Forces Seize Weapons from Al-Shabaab’s Mogadishu Base

Somalia’s security forces launched a military operation in Mogadishu that led to the seizure of weapons belonging to Al-Shabaab fighters.

The planned military operation took place in Huriwaa district, which lies to the north of the nation’s capital.

Dufaan, which is the military unit of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), carried out the operation.

NISA’s Dufaan unit captured three Al-Shabaab militants in the operation, which took place on November 29.

The weapons they seized included mortar shells and drums.

Al-Shabaab uses the shells and drums to produce mortar bombs.

Sources within NISA said that the operation wouldn’t have been successful without the cooperation of members of the local community, who helped flush the militants out.
