President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud says that several military personnel were arrested for running away from frontline areas.
The President said this on Tuesday while in Galgadud.
“Officers responsible for withdrawing our soldiers from frontline areas where the war against Al-Shabaab is on will have to face the law,” the President said.
He commended those who stayed on to proceed with the fight.
“It is not alright for some soldiers to abandon the fight, sell or put their weapons down, and return to Mogadishu while their colleagues remain in the frontline,” he added.
Recently, Somali National Army (SNA) troops retreated from a number of locations.
Some of these included Masagaway, El Dheer, Budbud, and Gal’ad, which are all in Galmudug state.
