Somali soldiers who have been receiving military training in Eritrea are to return home in January 2023.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia pledged to bring the soldiers back home early next year.
On Monday, he reassured the public of the plans by his administration to ensure that the soldiers return home as soon as possible.
He spoke while addressing Somalis in the diaspora in Minnesota.
For a long time, the country has witnessed a sharp rise in rumors swirling around that the soldiers had been deployed to join the fight in Tigray.
“I expect to see the first batch of our soldiers trained in Eritrea arriving home from the end of this month,” President Mohamud said during his speech.
