A meeting between top political leaders in Somalia agreed to select elections bodies from October 15 to November 15.
The meeting, held at Villa Somalia between Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States, agreed to start the process for the elections body for the Upper House.
Afterward, the process of selecting a similar body for the Lower House would also kick off.
Furthermore, the leaders agreed to work around the clock to form the federal and regional elections bodies.
They also promised to constitute similar bodies to resolve any elections-related dispute that emerges.
During the National Consultation Conference held last month, the same leaders agreed to form federal and regional elections bodies.
In the agreement they signed among themselves, the leaders opted to omit the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) from taking charge of the upcoming polls.
