Trade unions in Somalia have welcomed the endorsement of the amendments to the country’s Provisional Constitution.
Through the Federation of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU), they supported the ringing endorsement by legislators at parliament on Saturday.
FESTU, which claims to represent 173,452 members said that the amendments will usher Somalia into an era of democracy and respect for human rights.
It added that the amendments are equally beneficial in improving labor relations while honoring the workers’ right to strike.
