Somali Troops Kill 60 Militants in Lower Shabelle

Somali National Army (SNA) announced that its soldiers killed 60 Al-Shabaab militants during an operation carried out in Lower Shabelle.

According to military sources, the government troops carried out a successful operation in the region on Friday, August 20.

Specifically, they limited the operation to two villages – Anoole and Sabib.

A fierce gunfight ensued between the soldiers and extremists. Apparently, the militants attacked the soldiers first.

Residents confirmed to the media that the militants attacked the military who were in Anoole. At the time, the soldiers hadn’t launched any operation yet.

Two senior commanders of the militant group also lost their lives. They were only identified as Xanbaleey and Ali Kamiil.
