Somali Women Group Creating Masks for Local Hospitals

A Somali women group in the United States has started creating masks for hospitals in Minneapolis.

The group, Somali American Women Action Center (SAWAC), has been manufacturing thousands of COVID-19 masks and distributing them to local hospitals.

Women from the group learned how to sew as recently as 2018.

Thus far, the women have created around 5,000 facemasks. Most of those have been delivered to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Facilities housing senior citizens have also benefited from the donation of masks by members of SAWAC.

The women are one more example of the incredible humanitarian work Somalis are carrying out all over the world.
