Somalia and Abu Dhabi Ports Deepen Partnership to Modernize Mogadishu Port

Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia and Abu Dhabi Ports Group have committed to enhancing their partnership to expedite the modernization of Mogadishu Port, an initiative projected to increase trade efficiency and strengthen the East African nation’s standing in regional commerce.

Following discussions in Abu Dhabi, Mogadishu Port Director General Mohamed Ali Nur Americo reported that both parties established a mutual consensus on progressing port renovations, extending infrastructure, and implementing technical cooperation to enhance operational performance.

The dialogues laid the foundation for securing investment and bringing Mogadishu Port in line with global benchmarks, with authorities stating that the upgrades would improve cargo processing, decrease vessel idle times, and foster sustainable commercial expansion.

Both entities highlighted Mogadishu Port’s advantageous position along vital sea lanes, emphasizing that enhanced services would fortify Somalia’s commercial connections throughout the Horn of Africa and further.

This pact represents progress in Somalia’s strategy to reconstruct essential facilities and establish Mogadishu Port as a formidable logistics center poised to facilitate economic revitalization and cross-regional cooperation.
