Somalia is one of the 67 states and territories around the world contaminated by landmines.
The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) published its latest report on the number of landmines available globally.
Somalia joins other countries rid with conflicts.
Some of these states and territories include Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, Eritrea, and Ethiopia.
Somalia has experienced clashes since 1991 when civil war broke out in the nation.
Lately, the country has mostly been under attack by terrorist organizations such as Al-Shabaab and IS.
It is estimated that over 110 million landmines are buried globally.
