Mogadishu – Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Fiqi, held a phone conversation with Egypt’s Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.
During the call, both sides emphasized the importance of deepening military collaboration to enhance regional security and stability.
The ministers expressed their commitment to building on the existing defence ties and exploring new areas of cooperation, including training, joint exercises, and capacity building.
The discussion underscores the growing strategic relationship between Somalia and Egypt amid shared security concerns in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea corridor.
