Somalia is open to close cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in agricultural innovation.
Qu Dongyu, the FAO Director-General, welcomed this idea during his meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday.
DG Dongyu and the Somali President met in Roma on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations Food Systems Summit.
They agreed on the importance of enhancing food security in the East African nation too.
Further, their discussions focused on ways of tackling the effects of climate change too.
President Mohamud and the FAO DG also discussed the need to build resilience to prevent the droughts that have been recurrent in Somalia for years.
