Somalia and other countries in the East African region are feeling the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
International Medical Corps United Kingdom (IMCUK) announced this in its latest report released on Wednesday, May 25.
As per its report, citizens of countries in the East African region continue to struggle to meet their basic nutritional needs.
The situation is worsened by the fact that the region has been experiencing one of its worst droughts in decades.
Currently, over 23 million people in Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Eritrea are at risk of hunger.
Acute food shortage has become the norm.
Hundreds of thousands of Somalis have been displaced from their homes.
As Russia continues its war with Ukraine, many people in East Africa will be incapable of getting a livelihood and feeding their families.
