Mogadishu – Somalia’s Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Ahmed Hassan Aden, met with Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, in Mogadishu to advance bilateral cooperation in the sustainable development of Somalia’s marine resources.
The two officials discussed expanding collaboration in key areas, including sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and investment in Somalia’s vast marine sector. The meeting highlighted Somalia’s commitment to unlocking the potential of its blue economy with the support of strategic partners like Türkiye.
Aden emphasized the importance of sustainable practices to preserve marine biodiversity while creating jobs and improving food security. He noted that Türkiye’s experience and technical expertise in fisheries and aquaculture could greatly benefit Somalia’s national development goals.
Ambassador Aktaş reaffirmed Türkiye’s continued support and interest in deepening cooperation with Somalia, particularly in sectors that promote economic growth and environmental sustainability.
The meeting reflects the growing partnership between Somalia and Türkiye and underscores the role of international cooperation in fostering long-term development in the Horn of Africa.
