Somalia has appealed for the lifting of the prevailing arms embargo to help it to equip its army to fight terrorists more effectively.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia has already written to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on this matter.
The Somali President received support from Ethiopia through Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.
President Mohamud has been in Ethiopia on a 2-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy.
His letter to the UNSC on the lifting of the arms embargo is dated September 30.
He said that the arms embargo has prevented Somalia from equipping its security forces to fight terrorists more effectively.
