Somalia Calls for Faster Evacuation for Nationals Stranded in Somalia

The government has called for faster evacuation for Somalis stranded in Sudan.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged all agencies to work together to hasten the evacuation.

As of today, the government had evacuated 1,198 Somali evacuees from Sudan.

Foreign affairs minister Abshir Omar Jama Huruse led calls for faster evacuation flights.

He commended various organizations for helping to evacuate Somalis.

These include the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

Others are UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), International Organization for Migration (IOM), World Health Organization (WHO), and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
