Somalia celebrated the International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) on February 6.
The Ministry of Health facilitated the celebrations in conjunction with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Further, the Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development also played a crucial role in leading the country in celebrating this important day.
Somalia has a serious issue with FGM, which is widely practiced in the country.
It is considered a crucial cultural practice in various parts of the East African nation.
Politicians, human rights activists, and various stakeholders have advocated for laws that abolish the practice.
