Somalia Condemns BBC Over Inaccurate Border Map

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali government has strongly condemned the BBC World Service for airing a map that misrepresents Somalia’s internationally recognized borders.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, authorities emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty and urged the BBC to issue an immediate correction.

“The government reaffirmed its commitment to defending its territorial integrity and urged responsible media practices to prevent misinformation that could threaten national unity and stability,” the statement read.

The Somali government called on international media outlets to adhere to established geopolitical norms and to avoid broadcasting content that may undermine Somalia’s unity or mislead global audiences.
