The Ministry of Health has confirmed the eighth positive COVID-19 case in Somalia.
According to Dr. Fawziya Abikar, the country’s minister in charge of the health docket, the latest patient is a 58-year old Somali man who has no travel history.
The health ministry issued this confirmation on Monday during its daily briefings to the nation. With the latest confirmation, the number of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 now stands at eight.
Consequently, the government now has the task of tracing all people who may have been exposed to the eight confirmed cases.
President Mohamed Farmaajo’s government has introduced several measures designed to combat the spread of the disease.
Some of these measures include discouraging handshakes, washing hands regularly with water and soap or sanitizers, and observing social distancing.
