The Somalia National Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) has scaled up food and humanitarian assistance to Hiiraan region.
The agency opted for this course of action in response to the order by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Prime Minister Barre had ordered an increase in humanitarian assistance – including food supply – to the residents of the most affected areas.
Hiiraan has a large population of people made vulnerable by the ongoing drought and the subsequent humanitarian crisis.
While responding to Prime Minister Barre’s order, SODMA confirmed that the assistance would be delivered to recently liberated towns and villages in Hiiraan.
