Somalia Hails UK for Role in Lifting of Arms Embargo

Somalia has expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for the role it played in the decision made by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to lift the arms embargo.

Hussein Sheikh-Ali expressed gratitude on behalf of the government and the people of Somalia.

On Monday, Sheikh-Ali, the National Security Adviser, held discussions with Mike Nithavrianakis, the UK Ambassador to Somalia.

He delivered Somalia’s appreciation to the UK for the unwavering support extended to the East African nation to convince the UNSC to lift the arms embargo that had lasted 31 years.
