Somalia Has Over 3.8 Million IDPs, Declares OCHA

Somalia has more than 3.8 million internally displaced persons (IDPs).

That is according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The organization released the report on Monday this week.

In its report, OCHA stated that most of the IDPs reside in unplanned and self-settled sites.

It added that a large percentage of the sites are in areas affected mostly by floods and drought.

This has made it impossible for the IDPs to access water and sanitation.
