The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has launched the country’s newest national early warning center.
The purpose of the center is to help the country predict disasters in time and prepare appropriate emergency response.
In 2020 alone, the country has already been inundated with several humanitarian crises.
The first was the locust invasion, which started late last year and continues today. Somalia has also endured a period of intense flooding in different parts of the country.
Authorities announced that the center is to be located in Mogadishu in a former government building in a compound that once belonged to the United Nations.
