The Federal Government of Somalia has launched an anti-locust aerial spraying campaign in Lower Shabelle.
Reports show that the government launched the exercise on Saturday, November 7.
Desert locusts have been responsible for causing a lot of damages on farmlands in the region. Experts fear that the situation could usher in food insecurity.
Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that they launched the campaign to nib the invasion in the bud.
Farmers in the area have reported huge losses.
They have been grappling with the twin problems of incessant flooding and locust invasion, which have decimated their crops.
Several international partners donated aerial spraying planes to Somalia to help with the fight against locust invasion.
