Somalia lost $21 million between 2018 and 2023.
Auditor-General Ahmed Gutale said that his office seeks to trace the whereabouts of the missing funds.
He indicated that the funds were never deposited with the treasury.
“We performed forensic audit and investigations of our country’s finances and made startling revelations,” Gutale said.
According to the Office of the Auditor-General, the losses occurred between March 2018 and April 2023.
He called on relevant government agencies and departments to help launch joint investigations.
