The Al-Shabaab base in Middle Shabelle fell into the hands of Somalia National Army following an operation that SNA conducted in the outskirts of Balad Town.
Following that attack, SNA took control of Danida Village from the militias. During the operation, two Al-Shabaab leaders lost their lives.
Another one was injured as members of the proscribed group fled the scene.
The army destroyed a building Al-Shabaab uses to extort Public Service Vehicles. The vehicles operate on the route leading to Beledweyn Town, Hirshabelle Region.
Local residents who spoke to Sonna News said the Al-Shabaab militia base is now in the hands of SNA. The successful operation, is part of the ongoing efforts by the army to neutralize the militia group and to secure the road linking Balad and Jowhar.
